50 years ago Betsy was diagnosed in DKA coma as a toddler.

Her Daughter Sarah was diagnosed in DKA in 1998 due to denial of requested testing.

DKA diagnosis (96% of children under age 3 and 67% under age 5) is still happening.

Children are dying at alarming rates in spite of 100% preventability with current technology that detects and can diagnose in the early stages.

Our combined organizations (Diabetes Activist, TestOneDrop.org, Kisses for Kycie Foundation and Barbara Davis Center for Childhood Diabetes have joined as partners under the banner  UP Rising Against DKA (United Parents Against Diabetic Keto-acidosis).

We are working to change DKA fatalities and permanent handicap through education and awareness to the public as well as providers of medical care.
